Compliance with environmental laws and regulations remains the primary cornerstone of our
environmental efforts. Regulated emissions are in compliance with all applicable state and federal
laws and regulations. While compliance is a challenging task, it is also a foundation that we build
on every day in an effort to go above and beyond what is required.
We are proud of our compliance history, and our air, water and land compliance rates remain
among the best in the industry. Our air emissions are monitored continuously at our power plants
and reported in real-time to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). This data is publicly
available on the EPA’s Internet site. In 2002, we achieved a compliance ratio of 98.8 percent for air,
99.6 percent for land and 99.9 percent for water.
