ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS
In 2001, we embarked on a program to develop
and implement ISO 14001 consistent
Environmental Management Systems (EMS)
for our U.S. business units. EMS description
documents were developed in 2001, and in 2002
we began the process of implementing various
aspects of the EMS programs. Both the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and
the Texas Commission on Environmental
Quality have developed programs to encourage
and assist companies in the use of EMS
programs as a means of striving for continuous
improvement in performance.
