MINIMIZATION OF IMPACTS

Whether we are evaluating new processes or selling coal combustion products for reuse, TXU has invested significant efforts to reduce our footprint on the environment. Reduction of air emissions from our power plants, beneficial reuse of water, avoidance or elimination of greenhouse gas emissions and sequestration of carbon in our tree planting programs, each of which is described elsewhere in this report, are all examples of how we minimize environmental impacts.

We have also developed our recycling program far beyond office paper. Today, our program encompasses everything from recycling tree limbs from our tree-trimming operations to reclaiming spent cables and batteries. We continue to carefully examine our operations to identify how we can turn potential waste products into marketable products that reduce our environmental impact.
