office furniture to The Texas Nature Conservancy to furnish expanded offices in two locations in the state.

TXU interfaces with the environmental regulatory community in a variety of ways. Since 1992 TXU has provided summer work opportunities for minority, female and financially disadvantaged college students under the Mickey Leland Environmental Intern Program, which is a joint effort between industry and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. During that time, TXU has provided 36 summer intern positions. Also in 2002, TXU began serving on the steering committee for the Mickey Leland program.

TXU CLEAN AIR GRANTS
For the third consecutive year, TXU is partnering with the North Texas Clean Air Coalition to finance community-based proposals to help clean the air. This growing program has already reached thousands of area residents with clean-air messages and tips to improve air quality during the summer ozone season.

TRANSMISSION LINE PUBLIC MEETINGS
TXU presents public meetings associated with new transmission lines so that interested citizens can obtain information about the

need for the project, the regulatory process, potential construction and right-of-way acquisition. At the same time, information is provided about potential alternate routes, environmental impacts and electromagnetic fields. In 2002, the company hosted public meetings about the routing of three potential transmission lines with affected individuals, groups and communities.
