While recognizing regional diversity, TXU is committed to the following principles:

COMPLIANCE
We will conduct all of our operations in an environmentally sound manner, satisfying all applicable legal and regulatory requirements, as well as relevant industry codes of practice and company standards.

MINIMIZATION OF IMPACTS
We will integrate environmental considerations into our business planning and decision-making, working with our customers and business partners to reduce environmental impacts to the maximum extent practicable while preventing pollution and promoting waste minimization and recycling.

CLIMATE CHANGE
We will continue to take prudent steps to voluntarily reduce our emissions of greenhouse gases

and to promote carbon sequestration programs.

RENEWABLE ENERGY
We will encourage research on and development of more efficient, environmentally-benign sources of energy and, wherever warranted by market opportunities, offer our customers the benefits of energy produced from renewable resources.

ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS
We will maintain effective systems to manage our environmental obligations and deliver continuous performance improvement, including the periodic review of environmental objectives and targets. All such systems within TXU will be consistent with the ISO 14001 international standard. Gaining certification to this standard will remain the option of local operating management.
